23 year-old University of Zimbabwe medical student Evaristus Mhara has taken to music inspired by life and the tragedy it brings.
Speaking during an interview with the ZANU PF Information and Publicity Department, he described what motivated him.
"The death of my mother Nellia Maringe, who was murdered in Marondera while she was doing fasting and prayer in a montain, motivated me to get into music. This was a response to channel my emotions into something positive. The great passion for music and the will to start a media company so as to make both of my late parents proud," he said.
The young man who describes the genre of his music as reggae conscious says the music provides socially positive content.
"The "Baba VaMnangagwa" song serves to praise His Excellency, the President Emmerson Mnangagwa. It points out to thanking him for constructing roads quoting, "From Harare to Masvingo necarpet." The praising of Vision 2030 and that the government will bring change , development, peace, and unity is the message of emphasis of the song . It also honors ZANU PF as a Party."
Disclosing his future plans, the medical student said his "sincere future plans are to be the singer for ZANU PF songs so as to transmit information to the youths with music that entertains them and sticks into their mind. I would like to unite students unions such as Zicosu by being a mode of data distribution that young people find acceptable. This improves ways in which the youth can engage more with the Party ZANU PF, therefore becoming more patriotic. I will fully and support the mandate of President Mnangagwa and the Party."
He added that the data saturation helps catalyze him.
"For me, medicine and music converge in the sense that it catalyzes me when l am saturated by data after long hours of study. I think a lot after studying such that thought of rhythms, amusing movies scenes and catchy song lines are the only subsequently string of events that will be occuring in my mind," he said.
"My belief is that l am an emotional healer as indicated by medicine as a career, so does music which sinks deep in the soul to unlock and erase negative energies".
"The thought that my late mother died wearing ZANU PF Party regalia shows the importance of the Party. This increased my patriotism. At UZ, l was elected as the Faculty representative for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as a whole, increasing my pride and self-esteem in grooming the politician in me."
