WFDY CALLS FOR THE REMOVAL OF SANCTIONS ON ZIMBABWE
The World Federation of Democratic Youth WFDY 20th Assembly held in Nicosia, Cyprus, stood in unison calling for the removal of the illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe.WFDY held it’s Assembly from the 1st to the 7th of December and sat to choose new leadership as the term of office for the past executive has expired. The Assembly also sat to come up with a work plan, guidelines and resolutions for the next four years. It was also time to receive and confirm new applications.Speaking on his return, ZANU PF Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Lewis Matutu noted the important highlights for Zimbabwe.“As Zimbabwe, one of the resolutions of the 20th Assembly called for the unconditional removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe and highlighted the impact of the sanctions on the people of Zimbabwe and how they have caused slow development in the country,” Cde Matutu said.“As ZANU PF we were elected into the General Council and we are now among the 35 organisations out of 95. The 95 organisations represent the whole world. ZICOSU was also elected into the General Council. The National Executive of the Youth League will sit down to decide with help from the External Affairs of the Youth League who will represent the Party. This opportunity will allow us to mix with young people from all over the world who also have the same interests.”The General Council meets from time to time to discuss and advance issues to do with the different member organisations, ensure their voice is heard and that investment opportunities are attained.
