War Veterans Association chairperson Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa has challenged the veterans of the liberation struggle who were part of the consultative meeting held at the ZANU PF Headquarters to ensure that they continue their resilience. This follows many efforts by the enemy to distabilise the men and women who freed the country from colonial rule.War veterans, war collaborators, ex-detainees and cadres were part of the consultative meeting whose aim was to discuss the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Bill to suit their interests.Social media reports have misrepresented the bill highlighting it as an effort by the veterans to solicit for lavish lifestyles."We are celebrating some of the remarkable victories made over the past 40 years. It is unfortunate that we have had to struggle to get recognition and care as survivors of the liberation struggle. Other countries like Namibia and South Africa have had so many programmes to care for their war veterans in terms of health care and trauma, " Cde Mutsvangwa said."We are now a League in the ZANU PF Party because of the New Dispensation under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. We were always on the sidelines but now as a League we will be able to do things that others were not able to do."We are the vanguard and torch of the Party and we must pass this onto the youth. I challenge you to let the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Bill to be a reflection of your wills and aspirations. If we were able to deliver the freedom of this country, we are able to deliver even the economy of this country."
