The Department of Economic Development and Empowerment through its Secretary Cde Dr Sithembiso Nyoni has conducted a tour of Small to Medium Enterprises work spaces in Harare Province in a bid aimed at improving their performance.
Speaking during an interview, Cde Nyoni said proper water and sanitation access, electricity, and amenities will help improve the mentality of the SMEs so that they help achieve Vision 2030.
"Today, we undertake an important fact-finding and stakeholder engagement tour of some of Zimbabwe’s most vibrant centres of entrepreneurship, manufacturing, innovation, and economic activity. This visit demonstrates the commitment of ZANU PF and the Second Republic to ensuring that no entrepreneur, no market, and no community is left behind in our journey towards Vision 2030," Cde Nyoni said.
"SMEs are not merely participants in the economy; they are the backbone of Zimbabwe’s economic transformation, accounting for the majority of enterprises, employment opportunities, and grassroots economic activity."
Also speaking in an interview, Deputy Minister for Women’s Affairs,Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Honourable Kiven Mutimbanyoka highlighted that the Ministry is ready to support and implement policies made by the revolutionary Party, ZANU PF.
"We are here because the ruling Party, ZANU PF has given a clear directive and policy. It is time to empower our people. We are the implementors on the ground to help provide a friendly working environment for our people so that no one and no place is left behind," the Deputy Minister said.
"As you are aware, 75 percent of our GDP is well supported by SMEs. Today's tour is to make sure that we find the right working spaces for our SMEs."
The stakeholders toured Glenview Area 8 Manufacturers, Gilvertek Manufacturing, Gazaland, Best Cooperative in Mbare, Mbare Siyaso Market and Coca-Cola Market.
