ZANU PF Secretary General Cde Obert Mpofu says the ruling Party has carried the mandate of the revolution up to date because of its background of the protracted liberation struggle.
Speaking during an interview recently, Cde Mpofu said this background has ensured the Party’s sensitivity to the people’s aspirations and needs.
Answering questions ranging from the chaos in the CCC, politics and economic development, policies in Government and the upcoming by-elections, Cde Mpofu highlighted that the ruling Party is gaining ground.
"ZANU PF has a revolutionary background because of the protracted liberation struggle and we have carried this mandate of the revolution up to date. Our population is sensitive to this and President Mnangagwa has tried to keep the country united so this makes us different as a people," Cde Mpofu said.
"The Party is gaining a lot and we are geared to win the by-elections. ZANU PF believes in democracy and we believe that we can change the Constitution without worrying about two-thirds majority.
"The opposition will always blame ZANU PF for their confusion. We are just reacting to their confusion which is why we are campaigning for these by-elections. They are very expensive mind you."
He added that Zimbabwe has a very resilient economy which is thriving even under the illegally imposed sanctions adding that the sanctions are as a result of the opposition which is sponsored by the West.
"Those people who are hostile to us have Embassies in this country because they realize the importance of Zimbabwe. We are not perturbed by them which is why we have opened up our space. We are a functional economy and our people are industrious."
