Early Friday morning, the World was awoken
Hundreds if not thousands thronged the Robert Mugabe International Airport to receive his body from Singapore, so many people could not hide their distress, tears trickled upon their faces as they mourned the African giant who succumbed to ill-health, responsible for their freedom and empowerment.
Indeed Cde Mugabe lived a life worth cherishing, born on Feb. 21, 1924, Mr Mugabe was born on Feb. 21, 1924, at the Kutama Mission village in Southern Rhodesia’s Zvimba District, an area set aside
He was to be educated
Cde Robert Mugabe, was indeed a diamond in the rough and despite the colonial grip he rose to become more than just a Revolutionary. He served for seven years as Prime Minister of Zimbabwe from 1980 and then for 30-years as President from 1987 to 2017.
Soon after Zimbabwe attained independence, he basked in acclaim for working hard to ensure the education and health system of Zimbabwe was elevated to world class standards there
Cde Mugabe yet again shocked the world when he seized land from white colonizers and gave it back to its original owners, the formerly disadvantaged black people.
Educating his people and instilling the value of education in the Zimbabwean culture may well be one of his greatest accomplishments. Zimbabwe has the highest literacy rate in Africa with a whopping 93% and that is why Zimbabweans are getting all types of jobs everywhere in the world, because they are educated.
Cracking down on crime, in Zimbabwe, you won’t survive as a criminal because policing and gun control is very tight. The crime rates are very low compared to other African countries, a culture which was also instilled
Cde Mugabe stood up to western powers relentlessly. Western propaganda (including sanctions) has failed to achieve its objectives of destabilizing the country under his rule.
He also put an end to white racism
Cde Mugabe was the world’s most educated president, with 18 Degrees to his credit.
President Mnangagwa described his predecessor as “an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people,” adding, “His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace”.
“To me personally, he remains a father, mentor, comrade in arms and my leader,” Mr. Mnangagwa said of the man he had helped bring down.
At the Robert Mugabe International Airport, President Mnangagwa said, “The entire nation of Zimbabwe, our people across the borders are bereaved and mourning because the light which led us to independence is no-more, his work and ideology will continue to guide this nation’.
