TIMEOUS PROJECT EMBARKMENTS IS THE NEW NORM

Second Secretary and Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi has officially commissioned the Pembi Bridge in Mashonaland Central amidst calls for timeous completion of projects as the Second Republic moves to build the Zimbabwe we all want. Built at a cost of US$1.8million, the bridge has seen abutments and suspended slabs completed, parapet walls construction also being done. The commissioning of the bridge is a welcome development as previously haulage trucks had difficulties navigating their way resulting in the area becoming a black spot. This move is in line with the ZANU PF 2018 people’s manifesto which promised the electorate that infrastructure would be built in order to make Zimbabwe an upper middle class economy Speaking during the event on behalf of President and First Secretary Cde E.D Mnangagwa, Cde Mohadi said the pace with which the Pembi Bridge was built should characterise all projects going forward. “My government continues to prioritise the allocation of resources for infrastructure projects. It is pleasing that we are undertaking various projects, in particular roads and bridges in all our provinces using our own resources with no help from outside financiers or investors. This development is a demonstration that with determination, resolve, focus, and the prudent use of national resources, the attainment of vision 2030 can be accelerated,” he said. “The momentum displayed in the completion of this project after the advent of the 2nd Republic should be replicated and be the new attitude with which other key projects are completed throughout the country. “Gone is the era where projects remain work in progress for years on end. Government is also in the process of constructing the Mvurwi-Kanyemba road as we speed up the development of a new town at Kanyemba and subsequently improve the road links to Zambia, Mozambique and DRC.” He reiterated Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for the people of Zimbabwe. “RDCs are also urged to be transparent and accountable in the manner they use all resources under their control. My administration shall continue in its quest to improve the quality of life of our people and achieve equitable development and where possible, equalization that leaves no one behind.”
