THE PLANNED 31 JULY DEMO FLOPS
Peace loving Zimbabweans have today ignored the much hyped 31 July 2020 protests as they went about their business adhering to the ZANU PF First Secretary and President His Excellency Cde E.D Mnagagwa's call to stay at home and adhere to lockdown regulations and to ignore the demo calls.
This follows the realization
A tour though the Harare CBD witnessed the presence of only essential services has seen heavy presence of the security forces while that of Mbare showed most of the self employed people guarding their wares for fear of theft
"We are not happy with the planned demonstrations. On a good day, we make about $200 in day but we have closed fearing the rowdy demonstrators and we have lost business because of that," they said.
"The demonstration is of no use especially because it affects us the self employed. It hits into our pocket and many that have participated in these demos are not even paid but end up nursing injuries when they are hurt in the process. It does not bring food onto our tables."
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has also tweeted guaranteeing safety and security of the public.
"ZRP wishes to advise the public that the security situation in the country is calm and peaceful. The public should continue with normal day to day activities with the full knowledge that their safety and security is guaranteed."
