ED-UNZA’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Cde Herbert Nkala says having a 10 to 15 million United States Dollars reserve will help achieve the Founder’s goal of leaving no one and no place behind.
The scholarship was founded in 2019 and has 90 beneficiaries in 13 Universities. The annual target is 100 students. The pioneering group which began in 2021 has seen eight students graduating in Law, Computer Science, Biotechnology and Food Science and Technology and Fisheries and Fresh water Sciences.
Speaking during the ED-UNZA Fundraising Dinner which raised 2.5 million United States Dollars, Cde Nkala said removing the financial barriers will allow national development.
“We celebrate the continued realization of our President’s vision, which is dedicated to advancing the quality of life for all Zimbabweans regardless of their social or economic standing. Our journey is guided by the unwavering and visionary leadership of His Excellency, the President. His commitment to leaving no one and no place behind is not merely a slogan but is a principle reflected daily through his servant leadership,” Cde Nkala said.
Cde Nkala noted that when barriers are removed, young people excel for the betterment of the country.
“Their success across law, technology and the sciences proves that when we remove financial barriers our youth can excel in any field required for their personal and national development. Continue walking this journey with us. Let us honour the generosity and vision of His Excellency, the President by supporting his mantra that under his leadership no one and no place will be left behind.”
Cde Nkala noted that, “Going beyond the 10 to 15 million United States Dollars mark will not only generate interest but help to sustain and maintain the Scholarship’s mandate into purpose.”
