Independent legislator for Norton Honourable Temba Mliswa today donated rice to all Norton councillors and representatives of various political parties sourced from the First Secretary of ZANU PF, President E.D Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa has always spoken about peace and unity, a notion which called for the formation of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) as a way of moving the country forward in unity. In lieu with that, Mliswa donated rice to Norton Town Councillors.
Mliswa highlighted that he is grateful to President Mnangagwa for the kind gesture he has shown to the Norton Constituency especially in the face of COVID-19 pandemic.
The First Secretary of ZANU PF, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has shown that he is the father of the nation whose leadership thrives on peace and unity.
“I am truly grateful to President Mnangagwa for the kind gesture he has shown to the Norton Constituency. He has shown that he is a father of the nation who has remembered the Norton Constituency regardless of party affiliation and I am glad that all parties are well represented here,” said Mliswa.
He said that the Norton constituency received 15 tonnes of white rice from President Mnangagwa.
“President Mnangagwa would not have been happy if I had given the rice to representatives from only a single political party. During times like these, we should be united, leave politics behind and put development ahead,” he said.
Mliswa highlighted that he had already given rice to 600 teachers remaining with close to 200 more teachers. He said the disabled citizens were also reserved for allocation under the same Presidential program.
Some went on to say that soon he would be giving war veterans and frontline staff in hospitals food hampers.
Mliswa said that without the President’s generosity, this would not have been possible and asked the President to continue showing the generosity he has shown on this humanitarian program to Norton Constituency.
MDCs representative and Norton Town Council Public Relations Officer, Engineer Reggie Gavara, highlighted that he was grateful to the generous gesture shown
Speaking at the same event MDC Councillor for Ward 5 Norton Town Council Vice Chairman Reign Vusumuzi Mtatabikwa said he was grateful to Mliswa saying he had shown love and unity to the people even those from various political parties. He highlighted that the legislator is transparent by not hiding that rice had come from the First Secretary of ZANU PF, President Mnangagwa.
