First Secretary and President for the ruling revolutionary Party, His Excellency, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa says the country must ready itself to hosting delegates to the COMESA Summit.
This he said during the 390th Ordinary Session of the Politburo held at the Party headquarters this Wednesday. He said Zimbabwe is being recognized for the numerous strides implemented by the Second Republic.
“On the engagement and re-engagement front, the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union received the Report of African Peer Review Mechanism, on Zimbabwe. I thank all Government departments, stakeholders and communities for their participation in the Review, which resulted in the AU’s positive recognition of the milestones being made under the Second Republic. Congratulations, Makorokoto, Amhlophe,” President Mnangagwa said.
“The 2026 African Union theme, “Assuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063,” resonates with our national priorities on ensuring access to water village by village, irrigation development, dam construction, climate resilience and adaptability.
“Our country is intensifying the campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2027-2028. During the course of the year, we will be hosting the COMESA Summit, where Zimbabwe is due to assume the Chairmanship of this important regional economic bloc. I except the Party and country as a whole, to ready itself to host our visitors in the usual hospitable manner.”
