The country readies itself for the Presidential National Day of Prayer and Fasting as declared   It has been more than 70 days after the churches closed their doors to congregants when the President declared the first National Lockdown resulting in many churches resorting to online church services to keep their flock in line the precepts of God.   This new declaration   Zimbabwe’s positive cases currently stand at 356 cases with most cases being registered from returnees.   Speaking during his declaration President Mnangagwa said the country being guided   “Standing on this scripture, I, therefore proclaim 15 June, 2020 as the Presidential National Day of Prayer and Fasting. On this day, from 10am to 12pm, I invite the whole nation to join me and church leaders from various denominations, via live broadcast on ZBC and social media streams, for a church service which I shall host at State House,” President Mnangagwa said.   “Let us offer prayers of petition to the Lord that he may grant us His mercy, deliver us from this noisome pestilence and give us the wisdom to the effective steps to overcome it.”   The scripture reads, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called   Many Christians are aware that fasting can be a powerful spiritual exercise, especially when done hand-in-hand with dedicated praying. It is usually advisable to prepare for it through praying for guidance on which type of fast to perform, asking for direction about how long to fast and seeking for forgiveness ahead of the fast.   Tanzania is on record also going the spiritual route when it comes to dealing with this deadly pandemic although the World Health Organisation has had its reservations.
