PRESIDENT E.D Mnangagwa says the political and economic challenges experienced in the country in recent weeks are part of a well coordinated plan to destabilize the country and make it ungovernable.
In his opening remarks to the 340th session of the ZANU PF Politburo, President Mnangagwa said the nation and Party must remain vigilant and not be divided
The President’s spoke against the background of staged abductions
“These confrontational actions which played out in the political, economic and media arena, were not isolated incidences, but well-orchestrated, coordinated and planned events. I am aware that the intention was to cause despondency, unrest, violence and to render the country ungovernable. These acts should never be tolerated. I urge the Party and nation as a whole, to remain alert. Let us refuse to be divided
The President cited the purported abductions of three MDC-Alliance linked activists as some of the well concerted efforts to discredit the Government and Party.
On the economic front President Mnangagwa said a relentless attack on our currency and the economy was experienced through exorbitant pricing models.
The President said those behind these actions will never win as Zimbabwe is for all and not a small group of profiteers.
“We are fully cognisant that this is a battle being fueled
“They will never win. We did not liberate this country for selfish, profiteers and greedy individuals, but for all the peoples in our land who have a right to enjoy a better quality of life. As a party, we must always strive to achieve this.
“Comrades, rest assured that our security apparatus will get to the bottom of those machinations and those involved will be brought to account.”
President Mnangagwa said despite efforts to draw the Party into sideshows, ZANU PF will remain focused on building a great Zimbabwe through it people-centered policies.
“ZANU PF is peace loving and development oriented. We are an organised Party which pursues the building of our great country, with the people at the centre of all our policies and programmes. We, therefore reject the temptation of being drawn into issues that drive our nation backwards. Let those sinking into political oblivion do so on their own”.
