PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA TOURS HARARE AND CHITUNGWIZA SUBURBS
ZANU PF President and First Secretary Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa today toured some of the suburbs in Harare to see how people are coping with the lock down. The three-hour tour witnessed the President driving through Mabvuku, Tafara, Kuwadzana, Mufakose, Budiriro, Glen View, Zengeza and other Chitungwiza suburbs. President was highly impressed by the level of self-discipline throughout the suburbs, with movements limited to securing necessities like water, medical services and food. Speaking after the tour, President Mnangagwa highlighted that extension of the 21 days of lock down would be determined by the outcomes during this period. “I wouldn’t want to prejudge the decision at the end of the 21 days, we are going to review the situation. If we think that it is containable then we can go back because this has its economic impact and social impact so we have to weigh the possibilities of reversing or continuing.” He also used the opportunity to see and witness first hand, the challenges that people face with regards to water unavailability in most high-density suburbs. The opposition led councils have failed over years to deal with the water crisis among residents, choosing instead to focus on flamboyant lifestyles and dishing out allowances among themselves. The corona virus COVID19 has killed thousands and continues to leave its mark upon the world.
