President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa has commended the role being played
This he said when he officially opened the Mbano Manor Hotel in Victoria Falls today.
Mbano hotel lies on a 4 acre plot and has 18 luxurious suites providing a tranquil place to unwind within the tourist resort.
The hotel has been under construction since 2018 and was born out of the wealth of tourism experience from its owners who invested immensely into the hotel.
President Mnangagwa said the facility attests to the capacity locals have in achieving vision 2030.
"It is pleasing that this mammoth investment was put together by a local company Matizimunda Investments. This attests to our potential as a country to a journey towards a target to achieve USD 5 billion Tourism Economy," President Mnangagwa said.
"It is my Government's wish to see more local companies establish high quality and more competitive brands that will compete regionally and internationally. I commend the admirable high standard of workmanship and products that are on show at this facility. This will undoubtedly help attract the target market and clientele of the hotel."
President Mnangagwa commended the Victoria Falls community for its continued investment into the sector despite the pandemic setback.
"It is encouraging to note that despite the COVID-19 pandemic having a negative impact on other economic sectors, investment in the tourism sector here in Victoria Falls are progressing well," he said.
"One of the key pillars for the projected growth in tourism and the ambitious yet achievable target of US$5 billion is increased investment in tourism products and associated facilities."
The tourism sector received a boost from the Stimulus Package set aside by Government to cushion industries from the Corona Virus.
