President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa showed his deep appreciation for the kind gesture extended South Korea donated Covid-19 testing kits worth US$300 000 and 100 000 face masks. Over 8 159 positive cases have been recorded while 7 683 people have recovered and 232 lost due to the pandemic. “I am here to express my deep appreciation and gratitude for the donations which you have extended to Zimbabwe. I am aware that this is not the first time to make donations to Zimbabwe relating to the fight against Covid-19. You have shown compassion “Despite the fact that the Republic of Korea suffered the impact of Covid-19, your Government rose to the challenge and within a short period, you were able to bring down the transmissions of Covid-19. “I am aware that there is resurgence but I know that you have the capacity to deal with the resurgence in your country. Despite that challenge, you have been able to think of us Zimbabwe. We are a small economy, a developing economy. “We do not have the capacities which many countries do have in terms of the health infrastructure to fight the pandemic. We feel lucky that our friends with resources have come forward and you have assisted us to mitigate the impact of the pandemic. We the people of Zimbabwe, are deeply touched Republic of Korea Ambassador to Zimbabwe Do Bong Kae highlighted that cementing bilateral relations existing between the two countries was of paramount importance.   “The Government of the Republic of Korea is pleased to provide Zimbabwe with Covid-19 testing kits worth about US$300 000. Korea also donated 100 000 face masks. We need to collaborate towards the fight against the pandemic. Korea is also working towards reducing the transmission of HIV and AIDS from mother to child in three African countries, Zimbabwe included,” he said. “I would like to acknowledge that Zimbabwe has managed to keep the spread of Covid-19 relatively low compared to other neighbouring countries. I would like to commend the Covid-19 task force in Zimbabwe for working tirelessly towards the fight against the spread of the pandemic.”
