ZANU PF Secretary for Legal Affairs Advocate Jacob Mudenda says the Parliament should be people oriented.
He said these remarks in Victoria Falls where the Parliament of Zimbabwe is developing the 7th Institutional Strategic Plan (ISP).
The Strategic Plan will cover the life of the 10th Parliament which runs from 2023 to 2028. The ISP is expected to provide strategic direction and enhance Parliamentary efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness in the achievement of its constitutional mandate.
Borrowing immensely from the ZANU PF people centered policies which have kept the Party in power since independence, many of the foot soldiers and policy makers have ensured that the institutions they run follow through with programmes ideal for the people.
"Lest we forget, a world-class Parliament riding on an ISO certification is an ephemeral artifact if it does not accentuate the ethos of being a people-driven institution. To that an extent, the people of Zimbabwe are the denominator and barometer of the quintessential success of an implementable Institutional Strategic Plan wherein Parliament would have excelled in the fulfillment of its tripartite roles of oversight, legislation, and representation.''
Stakeholders, among them Treasury, Attorney General, have made presentations on how the ISP can be all encompassing in its outlook.
