The partnership between National Railways of Zimbabwe NRZ is indeed yielding intended results as shown by the work done so far.
100 wagons are being refurbished in a partnership that has built the capacity of the cargo carrier.
Speaking on their Twitter handle, both NRZ managers Chief Planning and Chief Traffic testified to the benefits of the partnership.
"NRZ have adopted a strategy where they partner with private players to restore the part of their capacity, which is stapled owing to various defects. To that effect, we have partnered with ZIMASCO for the recovery of 100 wagons for general purposes as well as recovery of main line locomotives to dedicate for the movement of their cargo mainly ferro chrome and chrome," said Jacob Chionyere, the Chief Planning Manager.
Gefferson Chimunye, the Chief Traffic Manager said "Over and above the wagons, we are working with ZIMASCO on the locomotives and the refurbishment of particularly the DE11, 3000 horse power locomotives for the handling of their traffic to various points. This partnership will greatly benefit our resources and we will be able to meet loading requirements."
