MDC SHOULD DESIST FROM USING ZANU PF AS A SCAPEGOAT FOR ITS EMBARRASSING CATFIGHTS?
By Lonias Rozvi Majoni It’s now sickening! The MDC should now show political maturity and begin to take full responsibility for all its scandals and flaws. For long ZANU PF has been a victim of the common blame game each time the opposition party finds itself in self-created murky waters. The Movement for Democratic Change is now known for its obvious blame game towards ZANU PF whenever they become victims of their own circumstances. Since its inception, the Western Funded party has been a movement of rabble rousers, scandalmongers and stormy petrels that posed as a danger not only to the entire Nation of Zimbabwe, but to the organization itself. A recap of the history of the party will show that indeed the organization is one with no vision and basic organizational qualities, but rather driven by selfishness. Around 1998, the party was formed by neo-colonial imperialist forces to counter the Revolutionary party, ZANU PF, from smoothly implementing the Land Reform Program. The western funded party was simply created as a group whose mission was to disrupt any progressive initiative meant to empower Zimbabweans. With no ethos or ideological framework, the party proved to be more or less a remote controlled terrorist organization. Just like a special class group which needs massive handholding, the powder cake was to first explode around 2005 when the greed and selfishness could not continue being concealed within the Party. The royal rumble saw Morgan Tsvangirai left holding a remaining chunk of the party, (MDCT) whilst one of the leaders, Welshman Ncube (MDCN) tore off another fraction. The same happened with Arthur Mutambara (MDCM). The brawls would continue such that around 2015, further splits were seen as the likes of Job Sikhala left MDC N and formed MDC 99. In the same vein, Tendai Biti ditched MDCT and formed PDP and the list is endless. Now in 2020, another episode of ‘keeping up with the bandits’ has just been released and Zimbabweans are not foolish to believe baseless and unfounded allegation that ZANU PF is behind the ongoing squabbles within MDC. It is the culture of MDC to fight and split each time there are disagreements, usually based on money. It is wiser for the opposition party and its followers to consider these current squabbles as an eye opener and a reminder of what they stand for and avoid the old fashioned and known antics of using ZANU PF as a smoke screen for their banditry.
