MAYOR GOMBA URGES ZIMBABWEANS TO UNITE AND BUILD ZIMBABWE

Mayor Herbert Gomba has challenged all Zimbabweans despite political affiliation to value the sacrifice of the men and women who were part of the liberation struggle and urged all citizens to unite in developing their country.   Speaking on the sidelines of the burial of the National Hero Cde Stanley Nleya, Mayor Gomba disclosed that he too lost his relative during the liberation struggle of Zimbabwe hence his respect for such men and women.   Cde Nleya who was of the ZIPRA High Command and trained various soldiers during the struggle for Zimbabwe’s freedom from colonial rule died last week after succumbing to a heart disease.   The purpose for me to be here is to make sure that we work together to send our hero to rest and it is an obligation in terms of my office and in terms of me being a Zimbabwean. All of us agree that of course Hebert Chitepo was a hero, Tongogara was a hero, and it doesn’t require any political affiliation for you to concur and give consent to that. So a hero is a hero,” Mayor Gomba said.   “We must be able to look back and see whether it’s necessary to look at political affiliation when we are attending national events. I do agree that certain people have some concerns, but those concerns may be answered
