An Independence message from the Miners For ED, National Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Cde Dru Edmund Kucherera
Tomorrow, we celebrate our Independence Day. We celebrate our land and our people, our freedom, independence and the proud heritage left for us by our departed heroes and heroines who paid the supreme sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today.
We have within our blood, the traits of bravery, valour and resilience passed on to us by generation upon generation of our departed. As we reflect on the path we have walked and the road ahead, we must draw lessons from the actions of our freedom fighters and the principles that guided them.
Over the years, through sweat, struggle and tribulations we have survived and never surrendered or lost our hope.Today, as we celebrate the birth of our nation, let us honour the values that underpin it.
These values must drive us forward. We can no longer afford to be concerned with mere survival. Let us instead seek to blossom, thrive and prosper as a nation, as a people, towards a brighter future in the Zimbabwe we all want.
Fellow Zimbabweans, we celebrate our Independence Anniversary under a heavy cloud of the El-Nino induced drought impacts and thankfully because we have a hardworking President, His Excellency Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, he has already through his Government drawn up mitigation measures and solutions.
We thank the President for always standing by us and supporting our cause thus empowering our communities and livelihoods.
As miners, we seen so many reforms within the mining sector through the bill that is still underway, we therefore pledge to tap in the President’s vision, Vision 2030 and NDS1 and commit ourselves to contribute immensely in the establishment of a 12 billion mining industry by 2030.
