FIRST LADY MAKES HER MARK IN GWERU

    The First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa put smiles on the faces of Gweru residents when she interacted with them during a COVID19 awareness programme held at Mkoba Stadium. Amai Mnangagwa has been going around the country educating various men and women on the need to stay safe from the deadly pandemic which has killed into hundreds of thousands from across the globe. Zimbabwe currently stands above 734 positive cases hence the need to be aggressive in ensuring that the public is protected. Taking upon herself the role of vatete which many have let go off due to various reasons, the event witnessed Amai Mnangagwa appealing for a reduction in the number of domestic violence cases. These cases have increased due to the time spent between couples. She encouraged couples to embark on creative ways of spending one’s time such as gardening. She underscored the need for the elderly people to also play their role in ensuring that the newly married couples live happily in their marriages. The First Lady also took time to urge people to desist from inciting violence and illegal demonstrations in contravention of covid19 regulations. There have been efforts She highlighted that she is a Mother of the Nation whose role transcends through political affiliation. The First Lady assures health workers and security personnel in the front line workers that the distribution of PPEs donated from China recently would prioritize them. She encourage the Gweru residents to wash hands even where people gather to fetch water as well as to ensure fruits are washed with running water. She further encouraged people to maintain the required numbers and practice social distance when at funerals and allow the health officials to handle the funeral. The people in attendance expressed their gratitude to interact with the First Lady and noted that she is one leader whom they have freely interacted with. Grocery parcels which included basic commodities were handed over to the elderly men and women during the gathering.
