ZANU PF Director for Information and Publicity Department Cde Farai Marapira says people should desist from misinterpreting His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's accessibility.
He said this during an interview with ZIFM Stereo when asked about the goings-on in the Wicknell Chivayo issue.
Cde Marapira noted with concern how President Mnangagwa's wisdom to avail himself has been abused, yet this access is aimed at ensuring the attainment of a better Zimbabwe.
Since the inception of the Second Republic, President Mnangagwa has created an open door policy that has not only seen his easy accessibility but let bygones be bygones. Such policies as the engagement and re-engagement policy have also seen the country doing business with countries that were previously not dealt with. All this has been aimed at achieving an upper middle income society by 2030.
"The President in his wisdom has said that he's got an open door policy for everyone. All who want to meet him should have access. All that have got bright ideas for the furtherance of this country's future should have access to him," he said.
"We have a possible case of someone misinterpreting the wisdom of the President, to take it and personally use it for their own self aggrandisement, which is not fair.
"The President has his doors open for everyone, and the President is there for any and all people of Zimbabwe. So, for people to start name-dropping and abusing that access, abusing the wisdom of His Excellency is something that we can not tolerate as a Party."
He added that, "These words demean and seek to reduce the standing and goodwill of our President and First Secretary in the eyes of the people, and we can not tolerate this as a Party."
