COVID19: CHINESE COMMUNITY in ZIM REMAIN STEADFAST IN SUPPORTING ZIM
By Lonias Majoni In a clear reflection of genuine friendship and empathy, the Chinese Community In Zimbabwe has been ceaseless in assisting Zimbabweans regarding the COVID 19 outbreak. Yesterday, the Zimbabwean Cargo plane that had gone to fetch Covid19 supplies from China landed back safely by the Robert Mugabe International Airport. The consignment which arrived comprised of provisions that include equipment like ventilators, PPEs and a range of Medical Supplies. In conjunction with Sakunda Holdings, the Chinese Community In Zimbabwe donated the consignment to the Zimbabwean Government; following the President’s call for Cooperates and well-wishers to Join the Nation in Combating the deadly global pandemic. Since the outbreak of the virus, the Chinese Community In Zimbabwe has been consistent in assisting Zimbabweans to curb the infection. The Nation’s Eastern friends committed to help Zimbabwe through various Initiatives including renovating and capacitating the Harare Municipal run Wilkins Hospital which has been hitherto a deserted establishment. A few days ago, Zimbabwe extended the lockdown by 14 days. Upon updating the Nation regarding the extension, the President, HE ED Mnangagwa assured the country that He will ensure the increase of medical equipment and supplies regarding the fight against the pandemic. Henceforth these supplies have been a confirmation that indeed the President is a trustworthy Leader. In the past, the Chinese Community In Zimbabwe has always been demonstrating affinity towards Zimbabwe, for instance during the Cyclone Idai Disaster. At a broader level, Zimbabwe and China have been enjoying close friendship and assisting one another even before Independence.
