COVID-19 LOCKDOWN DAY 2 UPDATES .... COMMUTERS, RESIDENTS TAKE HEED OF PRESIDENT ED MNANGAGWA’S DIRECTIVE
AS the country enters Day 2 of the total lockdown, Zimbabwe Urban Transporters Association commented public service operators and rank marshals for taking heed of President ED Mnangagwa’s call for a total lockdown to avert the spread of deadly #Covid19 pandemic. A snap survey carried out at Mbudzi Roundabout shows that only private vehicles and ZUPCOS were ferrying residents to and from the city center, to attain essential services and some for work. President Mnangagwa directed that only ZUPCO buses will be offering services during the 21-day total lockdown, with commuter services suspended. "I want to thank all urban public service operators who have complied with the Government directive. This is a deadly pandemic which need cooperation and total compliance to defeat it," said ZIUTA member, Tafadzwa Zioma. He urged Zimbabweans to stay guided by President Mnangagwa's addresses to the nation and take heed of his directives. So far the country has seven confirmed cases of #Covid19 cases, with one death, hence staying at home will help avert the spread of the pandemic.
