COMMUNITY AWARENESS PROGRAMMES ON COVID19 STRENGTHENING
The Training of Trainers is underway in all provinces with community awareness programmes on Covid19 gathering momentum, said a Cabinet Minister.
Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services said this yesterday during a Media Brief after the AD-HOC Inter Ministerial Taskforce on COVID19 met to receive reports from its Subcommittees.
“As our figures of local transmissions remain worrisome and continues to rise, the National Taskforce informs that infection, prevention and control, capacity building nationwide continues. Additionally, community awareness programmes are gathering momentum," Minister Mutsvangwa said.
“The Training of Trainers is underway in all eight rural and two metropolitan Provinces. Training of village and community health workers is also underway in all districts."
She went on to highlight the importance of Village Health Workers in the country’s health delivery system as they are on demand.
“Village Health Workers are vital to the country’s health delivery system as they interface with communities on a day to day basis," she said.
"In the current COVID19 context, their role has expanded beyond engaging communities in prevention and protective measures, to include detection and responses in containing the pandemic.
“To this end, their current training, links them with local health facility staff and rapid response teams."
To date over 6000 cases have been confirmed with 155 deaths registered.
