“Churches must be on the forefront” -President

 President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said churches must be at the forefront of uniting the nation through preaching the gospel of harmony and humility and shun those who make malicious reports about their indigenous motherland.Speaking at the Inter-Denominational Council of Churches meeting at State House, President Mnangagwa who was accompanied by his two Vice Presidents said the church has been instrumental in preaching the gospel of peace and love since Independence and they should maintain the same voice for the nation to prosper in harmony.“Churches must be in the forefront of uniting the nation, of teaching harmony and of teaching humility all the times. You have the biblical duty to motivate and correct.“The job of the church is to get people united so that they can build their nation.” said President Mnangagwa.President Mnangagwa also said all leaders come from God therefore all leaders must know where they came from and give thanks to the one who installed them.President Mnangagwa also made it clear that the constitution of Zimbabwe guaranteed freedom of worship to every citizen in a move that wish to promote a Christian nation.“In our National Constitution, we guarantee freedom of worship. We expect that if our nation becomes a Christian nation, our people will live a Christian life. If our people live a Christian life, then our people live in harmony because Christianity is peace, love ,unity and harmony. This must come from the churches," said President Mnangagwa.Also speaking on the same occasion, Zimbabwe Indigenous Churches' patron Bishop Andrew Mutendi said the indigenous churches are in support of His Excellency President Mnangagwa in the current economic turn around and it was their duty to pray for the Government to prosper.Family of God founder Prophet Wutaunashe also added that government in future needed to seriously take heed of the word from the indigenous churches since they are the backbone of the founding of this motherland.The Inter-denominational Council of Churches is an umbrella body of all indigenous apostolic church bodies.In attendance were different Bishops and Prophets from indigenous churches across the country chief among them, the Zion Christian Church, Family of God, Mugodi, Mwazha, Vadzidzi and the Apostolic Church 1912.
