CHINA IS INDEED A TRUE FRIEND: MINISTER MLISWA-CHIKOKA
Zimbabwe’s all weather friend, the People’s Republic of China PRC has once again come in with more donations towards the fight against the Corona Virus Pandemic COVID19 pandemic this time to the Mashonaland West Province.
Speaking well into the ZANU PF Party’s 2018 manifesto to improve the medical industry for accessible and affordable health care for the population of Zimbabwe, China’s donations to date total 719 000 masks, 21 000 testing kits and 100 000 protective gear apart from the technical expertise shared
President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa is on record saying that “government is determined to accelerate the reform of the health delivery system, expand the range of the health care services as well as improve the affordability and accessibility of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.”
Accepting the gift from Chinese Ambassador, Mashonaland West Province Minister of State Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka expressed gratitude for the kind gesture which she said will go a long way in fighting the pandemic.
“Our President Cde E.D Mnangagwa revived Zimbabwe’s relationship with China at the inception of the Second Republic though the policy of re-engagement. Today we witness the testimony of the sound relationship between Mashonaland West Province and Hebei Province. This has been the norm since the establishment of Sister Relationship between Hebei Province and Mashonaland West.
“Over the years we have seen pragmatic cooperation been carried out in the fields of agriculture, health, animal husbandry and education, which have achieved tangible results of cooperation between our two Provinces.
“We are grateful that we are walking together through this difficult moment. Indeed COVID19 has actually brought us closer and deepened our relationship.”
Notable donations from China also include materials
He previously donated 20 000 laboratory diagnostic test kits, 100 000 medical face masks and 1 000 protective suits and face shields to the Government. Earlier this month another donation of 500 ventilators, 200 000 suits and face shields, 2 000 thermometers, one million swabs and extraction kits and 500 000 gloves was also received.
Apart from these efforts the UAE through His Highness, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi have worked closely with government to supply medical equipment and surgical sundries at National Pharmaceutical Company.
UAE also promised to establish a pharmaceutical plant in Zimbabwe in order to grant the country the drugs that we need.
