The late National Hero Cde Perrance Shiri has been described
Cde Shiri was appointed the Minister of Agriculture after Operation Restore Legacy and tasked with the assignment to bring Zimbabwe back to the status of being the breadbasket of Africa.
This duty he discharged to his full ability as witnessed through the many programmes among them the Pfumvudza concept aimed at eradicating hunger even at household level.
Describing the late National Hero CU President Andy Pascoe said Cde Shiri opened up the door for them.
"He was the first Minister of Lands and Agriculture that we as an organisation, the Commercial Farmers Union, were able to engage with in almost 20 years. It wasn't for lack of wanting to interact with our Ministers, but the door was closed."
Cde Shiri has been known for his thoroughness in the execution of his duties as also seen with the Air Force of Zimbabwe which he turned into an envy of the region.
His death comes at a time when Zimbabwe has signed a compensation agreement with the Commercial Farmers Union re-affirming the irreversibility of land.
Many gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe died during the liberation struggle in order for the landless black majority to have land after being displaced
During the month of August, the country takes time to celebrate their heroics acts and sacrifice in the attainment of freedom from colonial rule and the acquisition of land.
