The Brethren in Christ Church commemorated Africa Day celebrations during a special “Happy Africa Sunday” service focused on celebrating African culture, unity, and community development among brethren.
The church gathering brought together congregants in a spirit of worship and reflection on the importance of African identity, solidarity, and social responsibility. The service theme centered on unity, with emphasis placed on working together for the betterment of communities and the nation at large.
Guest speaker and community leader, Hon. Minister Nguluvhe, accompanied by his wife Mrs Nguluvhe attended the commemorative service and shared a brief history of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and its transformation into the African Union (AU). He highlighted the significance of unity among African nations and encouraged citizens to promote peace, cooperation, and development within Zimbabwe, particularly in Beitbridge.
Hon. Minister Nguluvhe also called upon the church and community members to continue working in harmony with Government efforts to combat the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse among youths and communities.
During the event, appreciation was expressed for the Presidential Road Runner poultry donation scheme previously extended to the church. Out of the 50 road runner chickens donated last month, only two were reported to have died, a development described as highly impressive and a positive indicator of the community’s commitment to the empowerment initiative.
The Brethren in Christ Church reaffirmed its commitment to preserving African culture, promoting unity, and supporting national development programmes that uplift communities and strengthen families.
