President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said government is keen to share perspectives with different diplomatic missions on the policy thrust as well as priority areas to propel the modernization and industrialization of the country’s economy.
Giving his keynote address at the New Year reception for Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Zimbabwe at State House today, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe stand ready to draw lessons from different diplomatic missions towards bettering the lives of the people and accelerating social economic prosperity among states.
“My Government is therefore keen to share perspectives with you on the policy thrust as well as our priority areas .We stand ready to draw lessons from different jurisdictions you represent towards bettering the lives of our people and accelerating social economic prosperity of our respective countries.
“Your Excellences as you are aware our government set out a national vision to become an empowered and prosperous upper middle income society by 2030.This has resulted in various political and legislative reforms as well as the implementation of broad array of people centered projects to guarantee household food security improve incomes and develop creative core enablers propel the modernization and industrialization of our economy,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also said Zimbabwe have improved incomes and higher standards of living for the grassroots communities through the village business units concepts.
“My Government introduced the concept of village business units and nutritional gardens under the presidential drilling programme we are drilling boreholes to all our 35 000 villages .We thus invite missions to partner these initiatives from the perspective of training and capacity building as well as value addition and sourcing of export markets as we promote market driven productivity .
“Under our agriculture transformation strategy and village business units concepts Zimbabwe have choose improved incomes and higher standards of living for our grassroots communities and to also contribute to global food security and nutrition for our people,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also challenged the heads of diplomatic missions to promote investment along related value chains and pursue investments in the mining sector and other sub sectors of the economy.
“I therefore challenge you Your Excellences in your respective missions to promote investment along related value chains .Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none .We are open for business and your nationals are welcome to pursue investments in our mining sector and other sub sectors of the economy.
“We acknowledge the role you as Ambassadors you have played in promoting Zimbabwe as a favorable and enjoyable tourism destination .Our Industrial tourism sector has room for expansion across the various provinces our country .I encourage you to scale up the promotion of investments and people to people exchanges between Zimbabwe and your respective jurisdictions,” said President Mnangagwa.
