30 March 2020   ZANU PF YOUTH LEAGUE APPLAUDS BOLD AND DECISIVE MITIGATORY AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES ANNOUNCED   We  would  like to take this  opportunity  to extend  our  gratitude and appreciation   to the  President of the  Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency  Comrade  Emmerson, D. Mnangagwa for  pronouncing bold measures  to mitigate and prevent the  Coronavirus  (COVID-19) pandemic  that has  become  a  globally  threat to humanity. On behalf of   the millions of young Zimbabweans at home  and  abroad, it is with great  honour  and  high degree  of   unpretentiousness  to boldly  express  our  heartfelt  appreciation for the  audacious  statements pronounced and measures  taken   Firstly, we express our gratitude to the government’s  well thought out  and  swift rejoinder to the COVID-19 pandemic  as  evidenced     Furthermore, the  timely  address to the nation on 23  March, 2020  sets the tone  for the  expected behavioural change   and the need  for self-control  among all Zimbabweans as we  together in unison  should observe  and  abide     On The  26th March, 2020, His  Excellency   President Emmerson    Mnangagwa   officially  declared   that  starting from   30th of March  , Zimbabwe  would  undergo a   21  days lockdown  to mitigate and prevent  the complex  COVID-19  infection dynamics. Such grandiose series of public health interventions pronounced   We appreciate that historical lockdowns have been resorted  to mitigate and prevent  pandemics   While the   vulnerability to COVID-19 might trigger   alarm, fear, panic and dangerous   anxiety, let us in unison avoid blaming, cold shouldering and ostracizing those already   suffering from the disease and isolation.  The onus is  on us to heighten our sense of decorum and responsibility   and mobilize   our collective  conscience  and  mindfulness  of the  COVID-19 mitigatory and preventive  prescriptions and proscriptions  announced   Despite these trying times, it  is  highly uplifting  and encouraging  that the  majority of the citizenry of Zimbabwe are  committed  to ensuring that COVID-19 will be  mitigated  and prevented  with  high  degree of  success.     ZANU PFActing Deputy Secretary For Youth Affairs.
