The ZANU PF Politburo observed a minute of silence for the late Namibian President His Excellency President Hage Geingob today, in honour of the role he played in strengthening relations between the two countries.
Speaking during his remarks at the 374th Ordinary Session of the Politburo, ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa said President Geingob's death was a huge loss.
"At the regional level, we received, with solemn shock and grief, the news of the passing on of revolutionary par excellence, a freedom fighter and brave son of Namibia, the President of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr Hage Geingob. In him, our country has lost a consistent and dependable ally. The SADC region and the African Continent as a whole have been robbed of a steadfast, principled statesman and Pan Africanist," President Mnangagwa said.
"I invite the Politburo to please rise as we observe a minute of silence in honour of the late Third President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr Hage Geingob as well as those heroes and heroines who passed on throughout the country since our last meeting."
