ZANU PF annual conference kicks off

By Margaret Kamba

This year’s ZANU PF Conference has kicked off with the convening of the 372nd edition of the Politburo in Harare.

The conference scheduled to take place from Friday in the Midlands Province's Capital City Gweru will bring in delegates from the 10 Provinces to deliberate over the milestones achieved during the year.

Of note will be the 23 August Harmonized Elections, which saw President and First Secretary His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa emerging victorious.

This week also marks the Southern African Development Community's joint commemorations with Zimbabwe, in calling for the unconditional removal of sanctions placed on Zimbabwe by the West, thanks to the late Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli during his reign as the SADC Chairman.

Speaking at the Politburo this Tuesday, President Mnangagwa said the Party must desist from entertaining those propelling a foreign agenda.

"We congratulate the outgoing campaign teams from all Provinces for a job well done. For the upcoming by-elections, we expect to win resoundingly," President Mnangagwa said.

"We must desist from entertaining those who push the interests of foreigners in our country. The summer cropping season is upon us. Let us prepare the land across all communities."

He called for the early distribution of inputs to farmers as this is crucial to meeting set targets and avoiding losses.

He took time to call for the unconditional removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, emphasizing the fact that Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none.

He reiterated his stance of developing the country, leaving no one and no place behind in efforts to remove all out of abject poverty.

This year’s conference is being held under the theme "Towards vision 2030 through Industrialisation and Modernization.""
