Several youths attending the National Youth Day in Masvingo Province today expressed their gratitude to His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, for the numerous opportunities he has availed for them towards building their country.
National Youth Day, which is held on 21 February annually, is also the late President Robert Gabriel Mugabe's birthday and a day aimed at inculcating the values and principles that he stood for.
Speaking on the sidelines of the celebrations, Kenneth Zhou (21) said "This day is important to us as youths because we remember the former President Cde Robert Mugabe and how he worked to ensure we are emancipated. We are grateful to President E.D Mnangagwa for allowing us to celebrate this day."
Edward Moyo said, "I am happy for the development that we currently see in our country. This makes it easier for us as young people to participate in the growth of our country. President Mnangagwa has opened up opportunities for us to excel in any field that we choose to take."
Sibongile Ndhlovu said, "This day reminds us of the former President Cde Robert Mugabe and for what he stood for. We are happy that we can come together and share ideas on how we can contribute meaningfully to the economic development of our country."
Patience Shiri said "We are happy that we can meet as youths to share our experiences and ideas. Learning from the elderly people, we are able to look back and follow their path in making our country a better place."
The celebrations held at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre witnessed several dignitaries attending the event.
