Liberation Movements from Southern Africa virtually met this Monday to discuss issues pertaining to the welfare of the War Veterans.
The meeting hosted by the ANC witnessed participants from ZANU PF which was represented by the Secretary of the Veterans League Cde Douglas K Mahiya, MPLA, CCM and FRELIMO.
Zimbabwe's Veterans of the Liberation Struggle have seen numerous empowerment schemes among them, a housing scheme and borehole drilling among others.
Speaking about the importance of the meeting, Cde Mahiya said the Liberation Movements must work in unity.
"Its important to be united on issues to do with the war veterans empowerment in order to reduce poverty among them. Through this engagement, we are able to see how other sister revolutionary Parties are managing and make suggestions," Cde Mahiya said.
"It has never been possible to proceed alone. Unity is power."
This meeting was convened as part of the sister Parties' collective preparations towards the Liberation Movements Summit.
It also served to consolidate the perspectives of the Veterans Leagues on matters of heritage, intergenerational transmission of values, and the enduring mission of our Movements.
