TOURISM SECTOR POISED FOR GROWTH DESPITE COVID19 SETBACK

  Tourism Minister Cde Mangaliso Ndhlovu says huge investments are planned for Victoria Falls in order to bolster tourism despite the sector suffering from the negative impact of Corona Virus. Minister Ndlovu said this during the visit Minister Ndlovu said the tourism sector has been impacted He highlighted that USD490 billion will be lost in African tourism in 2020 including "Zimbabwe which expects an 85 percent drop in arrivals from 2.2m last year to 320 000." He says in light of Covid19 "tourism will have to look inward to kick-start growth." Domestic tourism is a concept that encourages travel The Tourism Minister said a USD5 billion tourism industry is possible to achieve thanks the President Mnangagwa's launch of the Batoka project which will bring tourism opportunities for the Province. At least six other tourism facilities in the Victoria Falls are in the process of expanding and construction creating jobs for locals.  The tourism sector is Zimbabwe's low hanging fruit which has various job opportunities even to the grassroots where communities can showcase their diversity in culture.
