The indigenous churches are under attack: Archbishop Makururu

By Margaret Kamba

Archbishop Andby Makururu of Johane the 5th of Africa says the indigenous churches are under attack from the enemy who cannot fathom the courage that these have to continually defend their sovereign Governments.

His remarks follow the recent developments in the life of Prophet Ishmael who has come under fire from social media yet his flock suffers immensely.

The colonizer is known for his use of the white man's church to colonize the black people knowing very well rooted they were in their spirituality.

King Leopold II's letter to the Belgian colonial missionaries was very clear in its instructions to turn the indigenous people from their religion and render it heathen so that they would successfully become superior beings.

Archbishop Makururu appealed to the Government to quickly take action by putting the indigenous church leader under its wings and guidance lest it loses out.

"Our indigenous churches have come under fire from the enemy who is bent at nothing but to destroy these churches and render them useless. The white people want to propel their own way of worship which is nothing but an advancement of homosexuality which is not being talked about," the Archbishop said.

"If you look at TB Joshua, he was very instrumental in getting the Nigerian people to love and defend their country but now after his death a deliberate attempt to rubbish him has been realised, all in an attempt to reserve the gains he fought for.

"Our Government must therefore step in and look at how they can support the indigenous churches to apply the teachings that they want such as the building of schools, clinics and birth certification of children than throwing them under the gutter and lose followers.

Prophet Ishmael's flock can only listen to him because they understand his teachings because he is their saviour. Government needs to understand that his followers are in pain over how they have been treated and move to address this.

"There should be unity within the indigenous churches because they teach patriotism and the knowledge of where we came from and our culture and way of life which includes knowledge about nhanga, gota, our traditional food and many other things."

Archbishop Makururu took time to appreciate His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's acceptance of the indigenous churches and the support that he consistently gives.
