Skills transfer is crucial: Cde Nyevera

By Margaret Kamba

ZANU PF Silobela Member of Parliament Cde Jonah Nyevera says it is crucial for foreign investors to impart skills to the indigenous young people for the betterment of the country.

Speaking ahead of National Youth Day, Cde Nyevera said while opportunities are vast for young people to pursue it is necessary that more be done.

"We are grateful for the Second Republic for giving us the opportunity to commemorate National Youth Day on 21 February when we all meet in Masvingo to discuss youth empowerment. We are thanking His Excellency President E.D Mnangagwa and Ministers for working to have the 20 percent stake in land we have in the different Provinces," Cde Nyevera said.

"We are grateful for our participation in the mining sector. We are getting a lot of empowerment through the Second Republic with support we have. We continue to request for support especially in the rare earth minerals so that we are part of lithium sector as some of these places are where we buried our forefathers.

"We ask that the foreign investors bring skills transfer in our communities so that we are empowered as young people. When they come with their machinery, it also needs to be in the languages we understand and be able to exchange ideas."

National Youth Day will be held in Masvingo on 21 February under the theme Positioning youth empowerment and development towards vision 2030."
