Sadomba Community receives J5 donation

At least 200 people in Sadomba Community have benefitted from a donation of bicycles and motorcycles from the Johane the 5th of Africa International Church.

Speaking in separate interviews during a handover ceremony of 200 bicycles by Johane the 5th of Africa International Church, the community expressed their satisfaction at the donation which they said will go a long way in alleviating the challenges they have.

The community lamented the lack of schools within short walking distance saying this is posing a serious threat to the girl child.

The parents who shared their concerns over early child marriages and school dropouts of the girl child have pleaded for relevant authorities to address the situation.

"I stand here representing Melissa Chigura as her grandmother. I want to thank Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu for this bicycle that she has received from him. My grand daughter used to walk seven kilometers to Nyarukohwa school leaving home as early as 5am and returning at 7pm. This gift will go a long way in shortening the time she travels to and from school."

Cde Joseph Shirichena welcomed the development that the church is bringing to the area, saying that they only knew this to be done by others, not local people.

"I want to express my gratitude for this development which is coming to our community. We knew this being done by other people but to see our own locals doing this is a welcome development," he said.

"When the Archbishop called me, he told me that giving me this motorcycle would allow me to do maneuver from place to place so that a lot of work could be done. I thought he was fake but I have seen that he is a genuine person who cares about the welfare of those he meets."

Commenting on the donation, the church Founder, Archbishop Makururu said, "His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has taught us that it is us as local people who will build our country. This donation is a drop in the ocean to the challenges facing this community. The girl child is being exposed to rape as she travels to a far away school and her future is ruined."

The church which has been instrumental in fighting against gender based violence and is working tirelessly too end early childhood marriages.
