PRESIDENT WARNS MEDDLESOME FOREIGN EMBASSIES

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a stern warning to foreign embassies meddling in the country's internal affairs. The warning is directed at some western embassies who have entangled themselves with local opposition parties and some civic society organisations through sponsoring their subversive activities. In his address to the 341st ZANU PF Politburo session today President Mnangagwa, warned foreign embassies not to misconstrue the re-engagement process as a sign of weakness on the part of the Government. "Some of our guests  of the state, our Foreign Embassies are reminded that Zimbabwe is an independent and sovereign nation. They are once again dissuaded from interfering in our internal affairs and should stop forthwith the funding of de-stabilisation activities," President Mnangagwa said. "As ZANU PF, we are engaging and re-engaging not as a sign of weakness or a sign of surrendering our hard won independence and the values we hold dear. NO NOT AT ALL. It is because we know the value of international solidarity and believe in a shared future for all mankind. Foreign Missions who have crab-like tendencies stand warned and should restrict themselves to their diplomatic mandates." President Mnangagwa added that Civic Society Organisations that continue to deviate from their roles will be de-registered. "Civil Society Organisations must stick to the functions and roles for which they were registered. Those who deviate from their mandates will attract de-registration." A number of foreign missions have been fingered as sponsors of stage managed abductions that have rocked the country. They have also been reportedly behind the so-called July 31 protests being mooted by some fringe political parties and civic society organisations.
