President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called upon the media and civil society organisations to take a leading role in nation building.

Addressing mourners at the burial of the late national hero Colonel (R.T.D) Tshinga Judge Dube, ZANU PF First Secretary and President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged the media to take a leaf from the late Politburo member whom he described as a decorated senior military communication specialist officer.

President Mnangagwa also reiterated that the media and civil society organisations must spearhead and spread the gospel of unity, peace and harmony as the nation accelerate towards the attainment of vision 2030.

“I call upon the media fraternity and communication fraternity together with civil society organisations to play their party in nation building. Content which propagates hate, disharmony and harms our national institutions is an affront to our collective national aspirations.

Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ,libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikhazi balo,is the philosophy and guidance that must continue to inspire and motivate us ,as we build our ,young and old alike,”said President Mnangagwa.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the liberation of Zimbabwe and his post-independence service, Colonel Tshinga Dube has been awarded with several medals which include the Independence medal, Ten years’ service medal, Long and exemplary service medal as well as the Mozambique campaign medal.

Colonel Tshinga Dube served as a member of Parliament for Makokoba , War Veterans Minister and a ZANU PF Politburo Member. He was a humble and hardworking politician who developed a deep empathy for the ordinary people of Zimbabwe.
