PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA HINTS AT COVID19 LOCKDOWN REVIEW.... AS CASES SPIKE

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the spike of Covid19 cases in the country requires a further review of lockdown measures in order to curb the spread of the disease. The country is currently on indefinite  level 2 lockdown to help mitigate the spread of Covid19 pandemic which has wrought havoc globally. However, the recent spike in local cases which stood at 926 cases yesterday requires taking action. Most of the Covid19 cases in Zimbabwe are from returning citizens. "On the health side, the strategies we adopted to curb the spread of the Covid19 pandemic have to date yielded positive results. Although there is a visible spike in the number of positive cases, largely due to returnees, we shall continue to strengthen our preventive measures as well as our testing and contact tracing capacity," President Mnangagwa said. "I urge the Party to continue to be in the forefront of raising awareness levels in our communities of the dangers of this pandemic. The recent rapid spike of infections requires that we make another review of the Covid19 lockdown measures" said President Mnangagwa while addressing the 341st session of ZANU PF Politburo today. Initially President Mnangagwa imposed a level 5 lockdown which was gradually eased to the current indefinite level 2.
