PRESIDENT ED HAPPY WITH PROGRESS IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

  President E.D Mnangagwa said despite the debilitating drought, the tobacco sector has seen a positive change in the quality of the golden leaf delivered to the floors as well as the prices offered. Addressing the 341st Ordinary Session of Politburo meeting at the ZANU  PF Headquarters President E.D Mnangagwa said there is need to continuously review the Party's strategies with regards to making sure that the agricultural sector boost so as to curb food shortages in the country. On the maize side, he said deliveries continue coming to GMB which has been allocated adequate resources to ensure the timely payment of farmers. “There is need to continuously review our strategies with regards to making sure that the winter wheat targets are met through both increased hectares planted and yields produced per hectare. The Pfumvudza Farming Concept has been well received He further commended the increase in water levels at Kariba Dam saying it will increase the hydro power generation capacity. ‘On energy, the water inflow into Kariba Dam is set to increase our hydro-power generation capacity there “The construction of Hwange 7 and 8 is on course and I will soon visit Matabeleland North to tour other mining developments which will have a positive bearing on our country’s self-energy self-sufficient." In addition, President Mnangagwa said road construction and other infrastructure projects are progressing well. Recently, he said Treasury released money towards the construction of Causeway Dam as well as Gwayi-Shangani Dam among others. ‘’Resources for road rehabilitation and bridge construction are also ongoing. Interventions President Mnangagwa also emphasised the need to facilitate a people centred economic development which will ensure equitable development towards the achievement of vision 2030. He challenged party members to work closely with the Government. He further said party members should not be fooled “More often than not, they conspire with our detractors and are themselves inflictors of the pain our people are facing. Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing they are selfish, devious, cunning and deceptive in their modus operandi. ‘’Hongu zvipopi hazvisvunuri musi mumwe”,  but as the party’s senior leadership, we must me more vigilant, astute and discerning."
