President Mnangagwa has said the prevailing unity must continue to foster peace and God’s people must live together in unity.
Adressing the 2025 ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH EASTER CONFERENCE,President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said Unity is a source of divine favour and eternal life.
‘Our nation is secure, yakamira mushoko ra Jesu Kristu muna Johani 14 verse 27 akati; “Rugare ndinosiya kwamuri; rugare rwangu ndinopa kwamuri; kwete nyika sezvainopa, ini ndinopa rugare kwamuri. Moyo kutambudzika, kana kutya.” yenyu ngairege Our hearts, my fellow brethren, should never be troubled or afraid. Amen.
“Fellow Citizens; Our unity must continue to foster peace. God’s people must live together in unity, for where there is unity, God commands his blessings. Unity is a source of divine favour and eternal life. Let us take the wise counsel of the Lord in Ephesians 4 verse 3 to 6, which in summary, calls on us to make ‘every effort to keep unity, through the bond of peace. We were called to one hope; one Lord, one faith; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.’
“We are “One people, one Zimbabwe.” Nothing and no one must be allowed to sow seeds of division and disunity or confusion among us. Muna Johani 13 verse 34, Kristu akati “Ndinokupai murayiro mutsva, wokuti mudanane; sezvandakakudai imi, nemi mudananewo saizvozvo.” We are instructed to love one another, even as Jesus loved us.
“Mwari worugare anoda kuti tirarame murudo, takabatana tichi remekedzana, tichishandira nyika yekwedu tichimunamata. We 6 pray for peace to prevail in our SADC region and throughout our continent and the world, where people are experiencing conflict, displacement, insecurity and instability.
“ Unity among God’s people, where individuals or groups come together with a shared purpose and common goals, is a powerful force. It strengthens our collective will and transforms groups of individuals into engine-rooms of greater successes and development, within families, communities and the nation as a whole,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also urged the nation and Church in particular to recognise and harness the individual and collective capacities that have propelled the socio-economic development of the nation.
“ Let us, therefore, pursue unity that knows no boundaries, religion, tribe, race, colour, age or geography. When we are united at every level, Jesus, according to Matthew 18 verse 19: says that, ‘if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven’.
“ I urge the nation and Church in particular to recognise and harness the individual and collective capacities we have to propel the socio-economic development, modernisation and industrialisation of our country, through demonstrating unfailing love for our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe. May we pray for our nation according to Ephesians 3 verse 16 to 19, which in summary says, ‘that out of His glorious riches Jesus Christ may strengthen us with power through the Holy Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in our nation through faith; and also pray that our motherland, Zimbabwe may be filled with the love of Jesus, that exceeds all knowledge.’ Hallelujah.
“This will enable us to approach both our opportunities and challenges with love and unity of purpose, transforming disputes through dialogues, turning hostilities into compassion and understanding. Fellow Congregants, Ladies and Gentlemen; Easter is not only a celebration of Christ’s victory over death, but a constant reminder of the call to be peacemakers,” said President Mnangagwa.
The head of state and government also reiterated that Unity and forgiveness are powerful instruments which break down all barriers.
“Unity, love and forgiveness are powerful instruments which break down all barriers. In the book of Matthew, Chapter 5, verse 9, the Bible says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” “This highlights that it is critically important for our lives to reflect God’s character that is pleasing to Him. Further, let us strive to create communities where peace and unity flourish, through love and forgiveness. This message must saturate our everyday interactions at all levels.
“Through the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ, on the cross; at the household and family level, in our workplaces, and communities, let us practice kindness mindful of the fact that every act of love and forgiveness is a step towards consolidating our national peace and unity,”said President Mnangagwa.
