No room for undemocratic behaviour ahead of DCCs : President …says be prepared to accept the election outcome

ZANU PF First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has strongly warned Party leadership and members to desist from malpractices ahead of the District Coordinating Committees (DCCs) saying such practices divides the Party. The reintroduction of DCCs after being disbanded in 2012 is the first step towards the re-structuring of the Party as Zanu-PF prepares for the 2023 harmonised elections. Giving his opening remarks during 344th ordinary session of the Politburo at Party Headquarters, ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde ED Mnangagwa has read a riot act on unrepentant Party cadres who survive on manipulating the outcome of internal Party elections especially the upcoming DCCs through misconducts such as imposition of candidates, vote buying to win an election. President Mnangagwa further said the Party’s DCCs should stimulate the Party’s activities and serve as a mechanism to further consolidate our Party’s mobilisation strategy. “The reintroduction of DCCs must serve as a mechanism to further consolidate our Party’s mobilisation strategy at the grassroots level. “I therefore extort the leadership of the structures of the Party to to consolidate our internal democratic processes and culture.Un democratic behaviour such as the imposition of candidates, vote buying and other malpractices divide the Party and must not be tolerated. “Those who contest in elections must be prepared to accept the election outcome. That is the democratic way. To be a good leader, one must be prepared to be a good follower.” said President Mnangagwa. The Party’s DCCs were disbanded in 2012 after it was felt they had been hijacked President Mnangagwa further implores the Party to continue working towards fulfilling the manifesto promises, adding that Party members should be active participants to that effect. President Mnangagwa adds that Government is a product of the Party and that vision 2030 can only be achieved through unity peace and cooperation among Zimbabweans President Mnangagwa adds that the Party will continue to work in unison with its sister party ANC towards fighting neo-colonialism and detractors.
