Matabeleland South Province Updates

Honorable Albert Nguluvhe, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Matabeleland South Province, had a fruitful engagements with the Beitbridge stakeholders on their success stories and a number of service delivery issues affecting them and possible solutions. 


Among the issues discussed were the devolution agenda, development plans, service delivery challenges and community eengagements. 


Honourable Nguluvhe said the work being done will help bring development to the Province.


"The engagement is part of my office's ongoing outreach programme to track service delivery progress in Matabeleland South's seven administrative districts," he said. 


"During the meeting, I emphasized the importance of devolution in promoting sustainable economic development and addressing local needs​ and also highlighted the ​Government's commitment to fully rolling out the devolution program​me.


" We also shared experiences with the stakeholders and outlined plans to grow the province's economy, focusing on sectors such as:​ Mining​, Agriculture​, Education, Health, Infrastructure Development, Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics, SMES among others."


The Minister of State added, "As the newly appointed Minister, my aim is to understand the challenges faced by the Beitbridge Municipality and Beitbridge Rural District Council in delivering essential services​," Cde Nguluvhe said.


"We had fruitful engagements with the local community led by Chief Tshitaudze, Chief Matibe and their headmen and village heads and other community leaders. They shared a number of concerns some of which can be addressed at grassroots, provincial and national level.


"The issues range from business opportunities, education facilities, telecommunications, stock theft, drugs and substance abuse, documentation, health services, infrastructure development, peace and security, employment creation, water and sanitation etc. together, we will work in unison to address areas where there are deficiencies."
