Acting President General (RTD) Dr C.G.D.N Chiwenga has said for the nation to realize an upper middle-income economy as envisioned by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa there is a need to summon collective energies towards one common goal.
Addressing mourners at the burial of the late National Hero, Cde Justin Mupamhanga at the National Heroes Acre today , Acting President General (RTD)Dr C.G.D.N Chiwenga said the nation should draw lessons from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for unity and prosperity in his economic mantra, leaving no one and no place behind.
“When our President says leaving no one and no place behind, he is reminding us of wartime covenant, a covenant we must all live by, across generations starting and including our very own. Zimbabwe belongs to all of us,” said Acting President Chiwenga.
He also added that the nation must beneficiate its resources and industrialize the economy towards value addition and beneficiation.
Acting President Chiwenga also added that there is need for the nation to embrace rural economy as a key success story to prosperity and social transformation.
“Above all we must turn our rural areas into centres of industrial activity, based on each community’s resource endowments .Rural industrialisation is one key lesson we learn from successful countries and growing economies.
“We must lift our people out of degrading and dehumanising poverty, indeed change the trajectory of flow of goods and services back to the countryside where we all began,” said Acting President Chiwenga.
Acting President Chiwenga described the late national hero Cde Mupamhanga as a great patriot who demonstrated tireless dedication and selfless service.
He also added that the late Cde Mupamhanga whose chimurenga name was Cde Top 10 understood the sacrifices required for progress and the need to uplift the lives of ordinary people.
