LAND REFORM IRREVERSIBLE

The First Secretary and President His Excellency Cde E.D Mnangagwa has today highlighted that the Land Reform issue is irreversible. President Mnangagwa said this whilst addressing delegates and the burial of the late Brigadier General Cde Ruphus Chigudu at the National Heroes Acre in Harare today where he encouraged people to defend the land which the late hero fought hard for. Of late the land issue has been on the fore-front with certain opposition elements claiming that President Mnangagwa is planning on offering the former white farmers the land they formerly ploughed on. It is this issue that President Mnangagwa has been explaining that the New Dispensation is only compensating developments made on these farms and no land is going back to the white man. “The land has come and is now united with its people. It has come forever and is irreversible. There are those in our midst who are misreading what Government constitutionally seeks to achieve," President Mnangagwa said. “In pursuit of a narrow agenda, they think they have now found a credible platform for mobilizing against ZANU PF and its Government. They are desperate, they are doomed." President Mnangagwa went on to say that the New Dispensation is determined to make the country food secure as they invest in mechanising the agriculture sector. “My Administration remains determined towards food security and self sufficiency. We are heavily investing in mechanized agriculture with the support of our friendly countries and companies," President Mnangagwa said. “Only last I launched the Belarus US$51 million agriculture mechanisation programme to accelerate the sustainable modernisation and mechanisation of our agriculture sector." The late Brigadier General was described as a man who was dedicated to fighting for Zimbabwe’s independence and defending Zimbabwe’s independence.
