Honouring Zimbabwe's gallant sons and daughters

The Gwanda Provincial Heroes Acre stood as a solemn yet proud symbol of Zimbabwe’s enduring spirit as the province gathered to honour the gallant sons and daughters of the soil during the Heroes and Defence Forces Day commemorations.

Presiding over the ceremony was the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Hon Albert Nguluvhe, who paid tribute to the fallen heroes whose sacrifices secured the freedom and sovereignty the nation cherishes today.

The ceremony brought together provincial leaders, war veterans, service chiefs, civil servants, traditional leaders, and citizens from across Matabeleland South. Attendees laid wreaths, shared in moments of silence, and participated in cultural performances that celebrated the country’s heritage.

The gathering not only honoured those who gave their lives for independence but also reinforced the shared duty to protect the gains of freedom for future generations. As the event drew to a close, Hon Nguluvhe called on all Zimbabweans to emulate the heroes’ spirit by working collectively towards a prosperous and empowered Zimbabwe.
